ASTRA Mk2 V6 PROJECT |

This car first came to us as a factory-standard 1991 SXi 1.8 Mk2 Astra in need of rust and dent repairs, but it was only a few months before the owner had other ideas for the car... |
Soon after, the owner decided to go for the GTE look with a couple of extras on top, which we were happy to carry out. The touches added included: GTE tailgate, GTE rear Spoiler and rear Roof-tip spoiler, Lexus-style rear lights, 15” Alloy wheels, Bonnet struts, GTE bumpers with Custom spot-fog lamps for the front bumper, Clear-type front indicators and clear-type Audi side-repeaters. (Window tinting was carried out off-site). |
However it wasn’t long before the customer then became more inspired when his 1.8i engine began to lose oil and water... |
And shortly after found himself a Calibra V6 for £400 to swap into the Astra... |
So we mounted the V6 successfully with 2 mounts done and one still to fabricate... |

Then, when the rare fat body kit arrived, we played with it to get a look at what we were working with... |
And using an old Punto headlight for a template, we also cut and played to get an idea of where the car’s shape was headed... |
Then, with the welding finished, we began working the shape of the bonnet around our template headlight... |
With the engine wiring fitted by an off-site professional, we then reworked the front of the car to fit the larger Calibra Radiator... |
